What the research says

Systematic reviews and meta-analyses from PubMed, with their published conclusions.

BModerate research base

At least one meta-analysis, or 5+ randomized controlled trials. The grade measures how much human research exists — read the conclusions below for what it found.

Hypertension · 2022 · Meta-analysis / systematic review
Insights From a Large-Scale Whole-Genome Sequencing Study of Systolic Blood Pressure, Diastolic Blood Pressure, and Hypertension

Conclusion: We report one promising but unconfirmed rare variant for blood pressure and, more importantly, contribute insights for future blood pressure sequencing studies. Our findings suggest promise of aggregate analyses to complement single variant analysis strategies and the need for larger, diverse samples, and family studies to enable robust rare variant identification.

Revisiting the efficiency and necessity of adenotonsillectomy in children with mild obstructive sleep apnea: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Conclusion: AT effectively improves symptoms in children with mild OSA, outperforming watchful waiting in several key metrics. This review supports AT as a viable option but underscores the importance of considering individual patient factors in treatment decisions.

Eur Respir J · 2022 · Meta-analysis / systematic review
Prognostic factors for development of acute respiratory distress syndrome following traumatic injury: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Conclusion: We identified one important modifiable factor, the amount of crystalloid resuscitation within the first 24 h of injury, and several non-modifiable factors associated with development of post-traumatic ARDS. This information should support the judicious use of crystalloid resuscitation in trauma patients and may inform development of risk stratification tools.
