Conclusion: This behavior was different for each soil C fraction. Therefore, variations between experimental conditions, types of biochar and soil show that it is necessary to consider multiple factors when choosing the conditions of biochar use to maximize C sequestration in the soil and/or the increase of labile C fractions in the soil.

What the research says
Systematic reviews and meta-analyses from PubMed, with their published conclusions.
At least one meta-analysis, or 5+ randomized controlled trials. The grade measures how much human research exists — read the conclusions below for what it found.
Conclusion: In the investigated studies, the percentage of photocatalytic degradation of humic acid by nanoparticles was reported to be above 70%, and in some studies, the removal efficiency had reached 100%. From the results of this systematic review, it was concluded that the photocatalytic process using nanoparticles has a high effect on the degradation of humic acid.
PubMed 35735094 ↗Conclusion: Under high-temperature conditions, different ROS species were enhanced, particularly the synergistic effect of microbial and physical methods, which significantly improved organic matter stabilization and enriched Actinobacteria. These findings provide critical insights into ROS-driven organic matter conversion, informing strategies for optimizing soil carbon sequestration and waste management.
