Methylphenidate abuse and misuse in patients affected with a psychiatric disorder and a substance use disorder: a systematic review

Conclusion: MPH misuse and abuse are significant concerns in patients with psychiatric disorders and SUD. Risk factors include impulsivity, history of substance abuse, and access to prescription stimulants. Conclusion: Emerging head-to-head studies provide important data on the comparative efficacy of the formulations available. At a group level, efficacy across the day generally follows the pharmacokinetic profile of the MPH formulation.
