What the research says

Systematic reviews and meta-analyses from PubMed, with their published conclusions.

AStrong research base

3+ meta-analyses or systematic reviews and 10+ randomized controlled trials in humans. The grade measures how much human research exists — read the conclusions below for what it found.

Cochrane Database Syst Rev · 2012 · Meta-analysis / systematic review
Tranexamic acid for upper gastrointestinal bleeding

Conclusion: Considering the internal and external validity of the evidence, tranexamic acid cannot be recommended for routine use. Additional trials in which tranexamic acid is used in combination with the currently recommended interventions are required.

Semin Dial · 2011 · Meta-analysis / systematic review
The phosphate binder equivalent dose

Conclusion: The phosphate-binding equivalent dose was then defined as the dose of each binder in g × its RPBC, which would be the binding ability of an equivalent weight of calcium carbonate. The phosphate-binding equivalent dose may be useful in comparing changes in phosphate binder prescription over time when multiple binders are being prescribed, when estimating an initial binder prescription, and also in phosphate kinetic modeling.

Semin Arthritis Rheum · 2021 · Meta-analysis / systematic review
Management of calcium pyrophosphate crystal deposition disease: A systematic review

Conclusion: There are a limited number of studies evaluating the treatment of CPPD. High quality evidence is rather limited, while commonly administered agents such as NSAIDs, colchicine and corticosteroids have not been evaluated by RCTs. The need for high quality evidence supporting specific treatment modalities is urgent for this common yet neglected form of arthritis.

Cochrane Database Syst Rev · 2014 · Meta-analysis / systematic review
Tranexamic acid for upper gastrointestinal bleeding

Conclusion: In addition, clinical measures of rebleeding should be included. Other important outcome measures include mortality (30-day or in-hospital), need for emergency surgery or blood transfusion and adverse events (major or minor).
