Initial management strategies for dyspepsia

Conclusion: Proton pump inhibitor drugs (PPIs) are effective in the treatment of dyspepsia in these trials which may not adequately exclude patients with gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD). The relative efficacy of histamine H2-receptor antagonists (H2RAs) and PPIs is uncertain. Early investigation by endoscopy or H. pylori testing may benefit some patients with dyspepsia but is not cost effective as part of an overall management strategy.

Update on the treatment of chemotherapy and radiotherapy-induced buccal mucositis: a systematic review

Conclusion: Dentoxol mouthwashes, Plantago major extract, thyme honey extract, zinc oxide paste, vitamin B complex combined with GeneTime, and the consumption of L-glutamine are effective in diminishing the severity of OM. Pain intensity was lower with doxepin mouthwashes and diphenhydramine-lidocaine-antacid mouthwashes.

Proton Pump Inhibitor Use and Survival in Patients With Newly Diagnosed Glioblastoma

Conclusion: In this meta-analysis of patients with newly diagnosed glioblastoma, PPI use was associated with inferior survival outcomes. These findings suggest that PA-PPI use should be discouraged in patients with glioblastoma, since alternative agents are available and a detrimental effect cannot be excluded. Translational research studies should explore whether PPI-induced activity of ALDH mediates the potential adverse effects of PPI in glioblastoma. .

What users say

First-hand experiences, quoted verbatim. We show one positive and one negative where both exist.

“it says not to take it with antacids because doing so increases the bioavailability. ... I got some empty capsules, cut the pills in half, and put them in a capsule with part of a rolaids tablet. It wasn't quite the same but was a heck of a lot better than the dose I'd been left with.”
